Two successful FDT Roadshows in Denmark and Sweden confirm the interest for FDT Technology in Scandinavia

The FDT Group is proud to announce that nearly 150 participants in total, including more than 60 end users, attended the two recent roadshows that took place in Nyborg, Denmark on May 6 and in Gothenburg, Sweden on May 8.

The agenda included an introduction to the FDT Technology and the benefits it delivers to end users.  The presentations were supported by live demonstrations of applications in Process Automation and Factory Automation given with the FDT Group’s brand new demo wall.  The Process Automation demo system consisted of 45 components from 17 different vendors communicating via Ethernet, HART, PROFIBUS DP/PA, and FOUNDATION Fieldbus. The Factory Automation system consisted of 30 Ethernet, PROFIBUS, PROFINET, Interbus, CompoNet, and IO-Link components from 7 different suppliers.  Participants not only heard about FDT concepts but got to see firsthand an attractive demonstration of the technology’s benefits, e. g. in commissioning and diagnostics.

To ensure the coverage of the practical side and illustrate theory with real life applications, four case studies of FDT based projects were presented to the audience; the Dalum Paper Mill in Denmark, the Changi Water Reclamation Plant in Singapore, the Jämtkraft Power Plant in Sweden and the M-real Husum Paper Mill, also in Sweden. Representatives of these plants introduced their FDT based applications and explained the benefits they gained with FDT during their plant’s life cycle.

There was a very interactive exchange of experience with many interesting questions and detailed discussions around the table top exhibitions provided by 17 participating member companies; ABB, Endress+Hauser, Invensys, MACTek, Metso Automation, MTL, Omron, PACTware Consortium, Pepperl+Fuchs, Phoenix Contact, Rockwell Automation, Sick, Trebing+Himstedt, Turck, Tyco, VEGA, and Yokogawa.

Mr. Allan Kjaer, employee of COWI and Board Member of the Danish automation users association “DAu” was the moderator of the event in Denmark and Mr. Otto Erixon, Managing Director of MTL Instruments Sweden led through the day in Sweden.
