German company wetcon, known for their expertise in device development and integration solutions for the industrial automation IIoT market recently announced their new OPC UA plug-in designed for FDT-based desktop users using the PACTware device configuration engineering application. The new plug-in empowers IIoT scenarios allowing OPC UA client access to DTM device data for higher level systems.
The OPC UA plug-in enables an OPC UA Server environment that runs on top of PACTware and integrates every field device into default IIoT scenarios. The plug-in implements the OPC UA Device Integration (DI) information model and enables reading and writing of online and offline device parameters as well as parameter uploads and downloads. wetcon provides the OPC UA plug-in as open source code with sample applications showing how the field devices can be connected to both Azure IoT Central and AWS IoT cloud environment.
Additionally, wetcon offers fielddevice.cloud, a cloud-based asset monitoring plugin for PACTware users. This cloud based tool for field devices provides an improved asset monitoring strategy to gain DTM insights – a statistical overview of configured device types, geographic location information, user role editing access, NE107 status of devices, execution of parameter uploads and downloads, error message alerts, parameter related audit trail information and user configurable alarms with e-mail notification. The reports are highly interactive and based on Power BI from Microsoft.
