The FDT Group AISBL is an international non-profit corporation consisting of leading global member companies active in industrial automation manufacturing – whether it’s process, factory or hybrid. The major purpose of the FDT Group is to provide an open and non-proprietary standardized interface for the integration of field devices with engineering, automation and asset management systems.
The FDT® solution is not a communication protocol, but rather a standardized asset integration and data delivery technology. It unifies and empowers today’s industrial automation infrastructure with a single engineering environment to integrate any device asset and network with access to performance-driven data from sensor to enterprise. This includes a common environment for accessing the most sophisticated device features. The technology enables configuration, operation and maintenance through a single, standardized user interface – regardless of supplier, device type/function or communication protocol.
FDT Technology benefits both manufacturers and end users, with advancements like the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and Industry 4.0 delivered out-of-the-box, enabling modernized asset integration and access to performance data for visualizing crucial operational problems.
Around the world, end users, manufacturers, universities, and research organizations are working together to develop FDT Technology; provide development tools, support, and training; coordinate field trials and demonstrations; and enable product interoperability.
Most major system manufacturers today integrate the FDT Technology in their product/solution offerings and more than 8,000 devices currently employ the technology, making it the most widely adopted standard for integration of assets in automation systems for information-driven operations.
Today, tens of thousands FDT/FRAMEs are installed in diverse applications with millions of FDT/DTMs providing access to device health around the globe.
