The FDT® supports the use of FDI Device Packages.
The FDT Group announces that it will be demonstrating the integration of the future FDI device packages into the FDT standard at the Hannover Fair from the 7th to the 11th of April 2014. From the beginning, the FDI standard has been designed to be compatible with the ubiquitous FDT standard. The work on the FDI standard and tools is now to the stage where this interoperability can be demonstrated with real devices.
CodeWrights, an FDT Group member company, will demonstrate how fast and easy the operator of a plant is able to communicate with different field devices by utilizing FDI packages inside an iDTM-FDI over the well-known FDT communication mechanisms. This demonstration will take place in the FDT integrated brewing display in Hall 9, Booth D68 during show hours.
“This is an important moment in the history of industry standards,” observes Glenn Schulz, Managing Director of the FDT Group. “As an owner of the FDI standard, the FDT Group has worked to ensure that the FDT and FDI interoperability works not only on paper, but in real-world applications. We are very pleased to have CodeWrights demonstrating their iDTM for FDI in our booth. The FDI standard will be a great benefit to the EDDL based HART, Foundation Fieldbus, and Profibus networks when it is released. The interoperability with FDT ensures that end users can cover the full spectrum of networks and configuration methods in the richly integrated FDT environment.”
